Teen-tini and Jenn-tini! Bad Drawing #74!!

Rolling along with the sketch-a-doodle assignments, here is last weeks "Martini Party".

I had originally wanted to do two people at a party, all stylized and such... like the Madmen DVD covers... but alas... I settled for cutesy cartoony again.

But see? It's Teen and Jenn... And Jenn has her drunk eyes and hearts cuz she gets all "I'm gonna tell her I love herrrrr"...

This weeks doodle is still coming!

Oh Hey, A PRESENT! New Assignments! - Bad Drawings #59, #60, #61

We got a package a few weeks ago from Jenn and Teen over in Singapore. These two ladies are part of our painting group "We Can't Paint!" at http://wecantpaint.blogspot.com/

Oh yeah... that group...

Anyways, in the package I received THIS!

A "Sketch-a-Doodle" book designed and printed by Jenn and Teen. Inside the sketchbook are 52 assignments. One a week, for a year.

I got working on them as fast as I could, to get caught up, but have been to lazy to take pics and post. Well here they are, 3 more Bad Drawings.

Drawing #59:

Once, when I was a kid, we made sock puppets in school. I remember designing it being very stressful. After I had attached the googly eyes, I couldn't think of what else to do to it. I went into a bit of a panic... I was worried that anything I added after the eyes would ruin it. So I left it as just a sock with googly eyes. Well drawing this felt just like being back in kindergarten. I froze after the eyes.

Drawing #60:

This Narwhal is sad cuz it hasn't yet made out in the middle of a street with a hazmat looking astronaut.

Drawing #61

This is an owl. After this third drawing I've decided to try and not make every drawing in this book some sort of attempt at cartooning "cute", or "Cute-ooning" as I'm nowgoing to call it. Million Bad Drawings - Always coining new phrases! or "Coinphrasing"!! (I just came up with that one too). I just noticed now that one of his toes on the right is drawn wrong. I'll pretend he's just mid scratch. Foot itch. Do I win a no-prize?

Thanks Taylor and Teen!

Pumpkins! Drawing #20, 21, 22,

Okay so they're not exactly "DRAWINGS" in the traditional sense, but they started out as drawings... these would just be the final renderings...

This would be the first pumpkin of the year, and the second pumpkin I've ever carved. It's also the only pumpkin where I took a picture of the original drawing.

And here it is, lit up, with Arlyn and Mika's pumpkins... pretty sweet.

This is the "Jenn Taylor" Pumpkin and next to it is the "Teen Chan" Pumpkin. Jenn and Teen are in Singapore, and pumpkins cost about 30 bucks there, so Arlyn and I carved a couple for them. I did the worried Taylor pumpkin, Arlyn did the Happy Teen pumpkin.

The final pumpkin I did for the year was for a Monster Factory competition. Monster Factory is a Toronto based company that makes wicked monsters.

You can check out their monsters at www.monsterfactory.net. I recently bought one for Arlyn for our 3 year anniversary... pretty awesome.

But back on topic...

So Monster Factory had a competition to make a monster pumpkin - bonus points if you did a design with one of their monsters. I chose to do EMMIT.

This was the final design...

Next post... some truly, TRULY bad drawings... ones that will live up to this blog's title.

UPDATE

So turns out I won the Monster Factory contest!

"And
the winner of the Monster Pumpkin Carving Contest is Ellery
VanDooyeweert! Ellery's incredible Emmitt pumpkin, with its light-up
tattoos, really impressed us. But we also fell in love with all the
many other great monster pumpkin entries! Thanks to everyone who
entered for getting so creative for this contest. Hope... you had a fun and festive (and spooky) Halloween!"

These two monsters will be coming in the mail soon...

Well then... Maybe "A Million Bad Drawings" will have to enter MORE CONTESTS!!!

Drawing #14, Bad from the PAST with Guest Artists!

Several months ago, on our way back from Tofino, Me, Jenn Taylor, Arlyn, and Mika, took turns sketching Teen Chan while we took the ferry home.

This is Teen Chan... This is not from when we sketched her

Top Left - Jenn Taylor's sketch. (She of Lucas Animation fame)
Top Right - Mika Bantog's sketch. (Didn't finish)
Bottom Left - Arlyn's Sketch. (She of "Thomas the Tank Engine" and my Girlfriend fame)
Bottom Right - My sketch. (Clearly the best)

I don't know why Teen's face looks so squished in mine. Seemed right at the time. Maybe after a weekend in Tofino, Teen's head was all squished down from too much fun.
